Erasure and Othering on the American Frontier

How visual images helped construct a romanticized vision of the American West and what that means for the often  romantic lives of those living within the landscapes. 

I apply these themes to the San Luis Valley, a rural community in southwest Colorado.

Although I focus on the Valley, much of what I discuss is applicable across the American west.
